Emi Honda is originally from Japan and has now been living in Canada for almost half of her life. She majored in oil painting before moving into three-dimensional work and then became active in both music and the visual arts with her partner Jordan McKenzie. Together they explored a variety of mediums: multi-media installation, mixed media sculpture, drawing, stop-motion animation as well as neo-folk music with their band, Elfin Saddle. They travelled and presented their work nationally and internationally for over a decade.

Since McKenzie passed away in 2016, Honda has been embracing a quiet rural life on Hornby Island BC with their 4-year-old child.
