Michael MacLean and Nate Jones have been working together as creators since 2014, using photography and building as a way of sharing, documenting and collecting moments of life in the north. Together, they have documented events (League of Lady Wrestling, Commissions Ball, DCMF)and put on exhibitions (KIAC Gallery Hop 2014); they are currently collaborating on Canada Council-funded multi-medium projects from across the country.
Michael is an interdisciplinary designer and artist with a background in environmental design (design-build), photography, printmaking and research on working with communities and participatory methods. He strives to make work that is place-based, site-specific, and community-driven. During the pandemic art-making from a distance is giving him an opportunity to explore digital modelling as a tool for creating fine art in a collaborative way.
Nate is a photographer based in Dawson City, YT. Working in both digital and analog formats, he seeks to present the world around him without judgment, assuming the role of documentarian, historian, observer. Nate derives his motivation to capture images from the natural and social worlds, and to distill intimacy from mundanity to convey a sense of what makes a place interesting to those who love them.
